GOVERNMENT (BoYs) DEGREE COLLEGE CHAGHAR-MATTI [ASHAAB BABA] PESHAWAR

<p>&lt;p&gt;INTRODUCTION Government Higher Secondary School Chaghar Matti was upgraded to the level of Degree College in 2012-13 by the Ex. Speaker KPK Assembly (Mr Kiramatullah Khan) through an act Passed by Legislative process under the umbrella project to establish new colleges in KP. It started its proper academic activities in the old buildingfor the session 2013. GDC Chagharmatti aims to produce enlightened young men capable of serving Islam and Pakistan. Religious and moral training of the students is given due importance. The college specially focuses on creating a positive and healthy attitude in the students. It is hoped that the competent authority and the local high ups would like to improve and promote the college by taking interest in creating a peaceful learning and teaching environment in all respects. It is believed that Matai got its name after Chagharzai tribe who lived here before Daudzais came to the area. Another theory is that the name may be given by Sikhs, called it Chakni Matti due to its fertile soil. The village changed names over the course of time from Chukri Matti, Chughri Matti, Chaghri Matti, to the present official name of Chaghar Matti. It is also believed tha matai and Jatai were two villages not too far from each another and one day the Kabul River flooded to the extent that it washed away the entire village. The residents of Matai had to find a place on a high ground to escape the flood water. The two villages parted and Matai found its new abode on the Southern bank of River Kabul, leaving behind the sister village of Jatai at its original location. The present village is situated at least 20 to 30 feet above the river Kabul. At the east end of the village is the resting place of Mian Ji Baba ( میاجی بابا), who was a pious and religious person of great stature. To the South West of the village near Pir Kalay, the resting place of Sharhsham (Gul) Baba is another attraction due to the abundance of date palm trees. This place is said to be the camping ground of Ashab Baba ( اصحاب بابا ), who brought dates with them as a food ration for the troops. The date palms are not seen elsewhere in the area in such a large quantity. The Holy Quran is the book for proper and upto date guidance. Its first revelation and command is to Read. The Prophet (Peace be upon Him) has emphasized on gaining profitable education. Education is power. It brings light in darkness and gets us free from ignorance and enlightens us to differentiate between good and evil. We are fortunate to have a talented, highly committed teaching and supporting staff here to ensure the learning environment of our students is the best it can be. We seek to prepare our young generation with the very best preparation for life after college. Our departing collegians should be well-rounded individuals who are grounded in the Islamic way of faith, hope and love. As a College we have a strong focus on student academic progress and achievement and continuation to University is the chosen route for the significant majority. We try to enhance their knowledge along with extracurricular activities. Let us respond to the Islamic call and the Quranic Order to read and learn.
