Introduction

Government Girls Degree College situated in Chagharmatti, Peshawar. Since its inception the college has tried hard to impart & quality education to students. It was established in 2011 in the building of a Government primary school to meet the academic needs of the women of the southern parts of Chagharmatti. The administrative and teaching staff of the college was detailed from other Government College of the province and loan was & from Frontier College for Women, Peshawar to meet its expenditure and renovation. The post of Principal BPS-19 and 16 posts of Lecturer in English, Urdu, Pak. Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, History, Economics, Political Science & Pashto, Home Economics, Health and Physical Education were sanctioned by the Finance Department on 1-12-1999. Initially FSc, Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, F.A and B.A were started. Taking into consideration the importance of Science and technology enhance IT education, with the hectic efforts of the Principal ex-Shaheen Umer. The Higher Education Department has granted permission to start BSc and Computer Classes and Posts for the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Computer Science have been sanctioned and the establishments of a computer Laboratory have been completed. The college provides education opportunity to the young Women of the surrounding areas fulfilling the criteria for admission. Its aim is to produce enlightened and progressive young Women capable of serving Islam and working for the people of Pakistan. The college strives to give its students educational opportunities that would enable them to develop a positive and healthy attitude toward life and humanity. The co-curricular activities are promoted through different student Societies that hold debate, dramatic and literacy competitions educational trips and study tours. The religious and moral training of the student is given due importance through seminars and celebration of religious festival.
