History of Govt S.M.K.M Degree College Kotha, Swabi
It is one of the oldest colleges of Swabi and was founded in 1977. This college has spread over area of about 674 kanals but recently 200 kanals was allocated to Swabi Model School. The Pehwar High Level canal is flowing between school and college.
Initially this college was started in 1977 in a building which was paid through rent but after three years in December 1980 it was shifted to new building, then it was officially inaugurated by Governer General Fazal-e-Haq and named after the well-famous and prominent person Mr. Sahibzada Muhammad Khursheed, who was the first Muslim governor of KPK.
In 1991 this college was offering courses of science and arts at intermediate level but due to struggles and efforts of influential people of territory and principals of various colleges the college was awarded a degree level and for this purpose a segregated block of building was built.
