College History

Introduction

After independence, government of Pakistan decided to start commercial training institutes throughout the country. It was 1971-72, when the Government of ex-NWFP (now Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa) opened the Govt Commercial Training Institute in Bannu. This was an inter level college. One year Certificate in Commerce, and then one year Diploma in Commerce (accounts & Short Hand groups) were introduced, From the academic session 1980-81, the college was then upgraded from inter to degree level. Second time it was upgraded in 2004 from a degree level to post-graduate level, by starting Master of Commerce (two years) program. Then in 2007, by commencing BBA (Hons.) four years’ program, the college nomenclature (taxonomy) was changed from Govt: Postgraduate College of Commerce Bannu to Government College of Management Sciences Bannu. Finally, from session 2017-18, BS (Commerce) Four years degree was inducted. Since 1972, the Government College of Management Sciences Township Bannu has been instrumental in providing candidates with thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of commerce and business. The D.Com Part I & II (Accounts, Banking, & Secretarial Practices groups), B.B.A. (four years),BS (COMMERCE) Four years program & M.Com (two years) programs are structured on class lecture, class presentations, class tests, assignments, practical/lab work, internship training and other reference materials, to combine academic theory with practical problems. These methods of study not only provide excel in personal development but also prepare the students to accept future challenges in the fast growing corporate world. It is for these reasons that our diploma/degree holders have been well received by national industrial, commercial & financial organizations.
