Naat Competition

Introduction

Character Building Society organizes Naat competitions in college each year to appreciate the young talent. Many such competitions have been organized and the winners of this competition have represented College at multiple National and International events.

Naat is a form of Islamic devotional poetry found mainly in Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is written and recited in praise of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and is usually recited in Urdu, Punjabi, or Persian. Naat is often recited in a melodious and reverent tone, with the poet often changing his or her voice to create a different atmosphere for the audience. It is also used in religious gatherings and ceremonies, such as weddings and birthdays. The poet often introduces the poem with a salutation to Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Na
at khawan is a term used in South Asia for a person who recites "naat", which refers to a poetry that specifically praises our Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Naat khawans are typically respected figures in the community and are often sought after for special occasions such as religious holidays and weddings.
