Govt. Degree College Sam, South Waziristan

Introduction The Picturesque town of Kaniguram/Sam is situated in Tehsil Ladha of South Waziristan Agency. The town is surrounded by verdant Hills of Karwan and Asman Manza. Kaniguram/ Sam is not only known for its scenic beauty but is also famous for its historical perspectives like it is the home town of sixteenth century's scholar Pir Roshan and have a distinctive layout from other hamlets/settlements in FATA. It is 111 km from district Tank, 153 km from Bannu and 58 km from Wana. Kaniguram is 2042 meters (6699 feet) above the sea level, offering a variety of scenery and climate. The summer is pleasant while the winter is chilly with occasional snow fall. The historical opening of the 1st academic session at GDC Sam was held on August 1st 2004, with the enrollment of a couple of students in intermediate and degree classes. The college was established as a project, but as soon as the number of students increased in the first two academic years, the college was regularized in 2006. Classes of the first academic year were started in the old building of government high school Sam, while an amount of 60 million rupees was allocated for the construction of new college building including student's hostel, bachelor hostel and family residential quarters for the teaching staff. Soon after its establishment, government degree college Sam grown into one of the best colleges of South Waziristan Agency, but unfortunately, it couldn't continue its growing pace after the academic year 2008-09 due to the worst law and order situation and military operation Rah-e-Nijat in South Waziristan. Despite this difficult situation hundreds of students have graduated from this institution. Though the college building is still accopied by the armed forces, yet the new academic session 2021-22 is going to be started from the mid of September 2021, with the hope that soon the building would be handed over to the Higher Education Department KP. Principal’s Message Allahﷻ, says in the Quran, “Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe and those who have been granted knowledge” (58:11) Sahl-bin-sa’d رضہ reported: The Prophetﷺ said to Ali رضہ: “By Allah, if a single person is guided by Allah through you, it will be better for you than a whole lot of red camels.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) Our vision is simple –We wish to inspire students to achieve quality education and moral and academic excellence through a rich learning and social environment. This can be achieved through great teaching combined with a strong focus on students’ aspirations, achievements, personal and moral development. Our vision means great outcomes and life chances for our young people. This is only possible through the quality, committed, enthusiastic and talented teachers who are passionate about educating young people. I am glad to say that Govt Degree College Sam have young and committed teaching staff who have the ability to fulfil our vision. However, we are never complacent and we are constantly looking for ways to improve, in order to serve our community with the very best education. I am confident that we will, with the support of our community, the higher education department and law & order enforcing agencies continue to thrive and prosper. I wish to reiterate the importance of few things which we will have to keep in mind. Parents should remember that children should not be forced, but should be guided to achieve whatever goals they may have in their minds in an easy and pleasing manner, so that we may be able to discover the particular touch of genius in each one of them. The purpose of education is to teach our students, to think and develop a capacity to reason out facts. Students should keep in mind the importance of planning and prioritizing their time and its effective use which are essential to achieve success. Students should always think and review – discover the cause and effect of every event, in which they are involved. Do not surrender or become a slave to youthful fancies and indulgences. Preserve our heritage and environment for yourself as well as for your next generation.  Always be a soldier to defend and preserve our traditions and our territory. Hard work, dedication and perseverance are the most important traits in a person that lead to success. The future belongs to you, your need, therefore, is to prepare yourself for an active participation in the world. As a learning community, we also value education outside the classroom and believe that, it is important for our students to be actively involved in sports, arts, cultural and leadership opportunities. I commit my complete loyalty, passion, enthusiasm, and diligence to Govt Degree College Sam and its community and hope the same from the worthy teaching staff of the college. I request the teachers to play a very positive rule in equipping our students with the skills and resources relevant for their success.
