The first women college in Khyber pakhtunkhwa that came into existance in 1949 and was named as Govt. Frontier college for Women, Peshawar. set in the midst of the historic Masjid mahabat Khan and Bala Hisar Fort the red brick building of the Frontier college bounds the western fringes of the old city of Peshawar. its location highlights the cultural intermingling of the old and new, a blend which is amply reflected in the .college atmosphere.
sprawling over an area of more than 108 kanals, the college has academic, resedential and administration blocks. the academic blocks include the Humanities, Science and Library blocks. similarly the resedential facilities include a student's hostel, bechlor's hostel and independent resedential quarters for the college teaching staff.
Ever since its inception, the college has been gaining strength, both in terms of students enrollment and the quality of education it imparts. it now boasts of a student population of about 4000. many of its alumnae are now serving on some very important positions both in public and private sectors.
