Govt Girls Degree College Chitral

Chitral, an extremely northern district, is famous for its bewitching beauty, peaceful atmosphere and gigantic mountains. It is also worth mentioning that it is remarkably prominent with regard of female education throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which is, though neglected in the past, has received extraordinary importance among the masses. Govt. Girls Degree College Chitral started its journey on 21st May 1995 in four rooms of Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School. During its embryonic stage, all the Ex-Principals namely Professor Shahida Jamal Naqvi, Professor Bilqees, Professor Nighat Saba put their best efforts for a permanent building, especially Professor Gul Humaira, during her eighteen years of service as Principal, provided untiring efforts and day-and-night struggle to raise it to its present status and rank. As a result, it shifted to its present building on 3rd Nov 2000. Professor Mussarrat Jabeen, the present Principal, further raised its edifice and gave it a towering position among the top educational institutions in District Chitral and a prodigious status among top institutions at provincial level. At the beginning, the college imparted education at Degree level. Later on, the inter classes of Higher Secondary School were shifted. At Intermediate level, the college has Computer Science, Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering and Arts. Since Autumn Session 2017, the college also started a BS four-year Degree Program, initially in two subjects. The next year, the range of departments extended up to five subjects, i.e. Chemistry, English, Urdu, Islamiat and Zoology and in 2025 Associate degree in Computer science started. The college has fully equipped science and computer labs, a working digital library, transport system and online admission system at inter, BS and AD level. Continuous effort and dedication of its team, under the best supervision of its Principal, has secured a position for it where the general public views it as their first priority in terms of quality education, strict discipline, peaceful and conducive atmosphere, and strict adherence to merit.
