     Tanawal  is a beautiful, green and fertile area but was deprived of any degree college for girls till 2013. There were a lot of students both male and female who got education from  different schools. But unfortunately there was no institution for the female students for higher education. Those who wanted to get the higher education had to travel long distance. They had to suffer many hardships during their journey to different colleges which was unfeasible for them.

     For this purpose a Government Girls Degree college named GGDC Parehna was established on 1st January 2013. The college was started in a temporary, rented building which consists of 20 to 25 rooms. 

Location

• GGDC Parehna is situated in the peaceful area of Tanawal. The College itself  is very attractive because of its scenic beauty as compared to any other similar institute. The college is located in the green valley of Tanawal in the village Parehna beside the River Siran at Union Council Parehna which is 18 Km away from Mansehra.
