Brief History

The Government Commercial Training Institute, Kohat was established in 1964 in affiliation with the West Pakistan Board of Technical Education, Lahore. Only Diploma level classes were started at that time. It was started in a rented building and was shifted from one building to another a number of times till 1978 when it was shifted to Government Comprehensive High School Kohat. In 1984, the college shifted to the current building. Then in 1992, the college was upgraded and renamed as Government Commerce College, Kohat and B.Com classes were started in affiliation with University of Peshawar. In 2004, the B.Com program affiliation was switched from University of Peshawar to Kohat University of Science & Technology, Kohat. In 2007, permission was granted by the provincial government to launch academic programs of management sciences such as BBA/MBA and as a result the college was renamed as Government College of Commerce & Management Sciences, Kohat.

In 2011, a new Computer Literacy Program called "Diploma in Information Technology (DIT)" was started in affilition with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Technical Education, Peshawar. Recently (in 2016)the college was also selected by the NAVTTC for launching two six-month courses in the fields of Accounting and Computer Literacy.

Currently the college has got affiliation of BBA program with Kohat University of Science & Technology, Kohat and shall announce admissions in the Fall 2017 semester. M.Com affiliation with University of Peshawar is also in the pipeline.
