Introduction

There is a famous saying “a good book is the purest essence of human soul”. today’s reader is tomorrow’s leader. Books are the carrier of civilization. without books history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled and thought and speculation at a standstill. So keeping in view the significance of reading books and to promote it among today’s generation, higher education department of KPK is playing major role by providing well updated and resourceful libraries in Govt. colleges. The library at GGDC SAIDU SHARIF SWAT also fully cater for the students and teacher’s thirst for knowledge and they utilized it optimally.

STATUS OF THE LIBRARY

The college has access to HEC digital library through which the students and staff has access to reserchs papers and books.

While there are approximately seven thousand reference and circulating books in te college library. Daily Dawn and Mashriq is an everyday subscription of our library. Library has an improvement and instructional development program. The habit of self study requires that students must be encouraged to go to the library to select books and periodicals. Teachers and librarian must work to help the students to be self reliant and using library information for educational and professional purposes.

LIBRARY AS HEART OF TEACHING WORK

A collection of books, even a collection of good books does not constitute a library. A librarian assists the students/faculty in the learning process by guiding and instructing them in the effective use of library resources.

UTILIZATION OF READING MATERIAL

One of the fundamental laws of library science is the right book is available to the right person at the right time.

COLLATERAL READING IN THE LIBRARY

It is felt that teaching history without reference books is impossible. So it is necessary that the text book should be supplemented with collateral reading. Literature should. The teacher should persuade them to read general books so that they obtain sufficient general knowledge, which is not possible during the limited time for class teaching.

Conclusion

The students are encouraged to go to the library. They are able to read scientific information critically. During academic year proper library training is provided to the librarian.
