PRINCIPAL MESSAGE

The college, inaugurated in 2010, is established in response to the growing needs of imparting quality education to the students of far flung areas of district Karak. I believe education lies at the heart of almost all the challenges that the country confronts. That is why it is to be treated as a strategic imperative and not just a desirable social goal. It is the key that will unlock almost every problem. It is hoped that this college would produce a generation which could act as guiding light for the coming generations. Our aspirations are guided by our vision “To have an educated, tolerant and progressive society” and the mission statement Acquire moderate enlightenment and moral excellence through quality education”. Our endeavors are directed to achieve our targets:- To be among the prestigious institutes of the region To encourage students imbibe high moral and social values To inculcate constructive approach in the students To motivate students to be patriotic and responsible citizens of Pakistan I thank Allah for having a team of highly inspired and committed academicians who have been contributing positively in achieving these targets. Ameen Prof. Muhammad Rais Khan sb Principal INTRODUCTION Government Degree College Latamber Karak is situated at a very ideal location in Latamber, Karak. A network of roads connects the college to different areas of Latamber and other adjacent areas. The need to establish a Government run educational institution for the people of Latamber was felt intensively since long, which led to the establishment of this College at the Degree level in 2001. The college offers courses, both in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and the Humanities group and, therefore, satisfies the need and taste of the society from different angles. The college building is spread over an area of 20 Kanals with well-ventilated classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, a library with an attached reading room, spacious hall, and green lawns which add to the beauty and grace of the building. Highly qualified, competent, experienced and dedicated teachers contribute honestly for the achievement of the aims and objectives. The foremost objectives are to exploit and refine moral, mental and intellectual capabilities of students in order to develop a balanced personality and an ideal character. Moreover, efforts are made to introduce Islam as a momentous force in the lives of the students. Since, Islam raises human being to the height of humanity, hence education is imparted in such a way that the students should turn out to be true and exemplary Muslims ideologically as well as practically. We firmly believe in the bright and brilliant future of our beloved country, Pakistan. Special attention is paid to enhance national integrity and solidarity among the students. At intermediate level, this College is affiliated with the B.I.S.E. Kohat and at Degree level with the Khushal Khan Khattak University . Our Vision: To be a forward-looking center for quality education where all the stakeholders have open opportunities of discourse and wisdom. To equip the students community with a range of practices to identify, create, and distribute knowledge and skills in their chosen stream thereby infusing emotional investment in the shape of values. To shape the learners into future leaders and entrepreneurs in diverse fields and above all into good human beings. Our Mission: We do our best every day to achieve the vision by building up learning environments in the college that promotes personal and intellectual exploration to turn out skilled, patriotic and pioneering students who can meet the universal standards. Our mission is to contribute to the global community through promotion of teaching, learning and knowledge. We promote individual contribution to the social, political, economic and cultural development of the society, provide up-to-date technology and facilities of global standard and constantly improve the standard of teaching through innovative and effective teaching methodology.   Our Goals and Values Our Vision and Mission are visualized in our learning strategies, supportive environments, access to library and modern computer technology, students access to rules, admissions, financial support and counseling in the course and career selection. (1) INTERMEDIATE (a) Pre-Medical English, Urdu, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Islamic Education (Part-I) and Pak. Studies (Part-II) Eligibility: S.S.C. with Science (Minimum D grade/Not below 45% marks). (b) Pre-Engineering English, Urdu, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Islamic Education (Part-I) and Pak. Studies (Part-II) Eligibility: S.S.C. with Science (Minimum D grade/Not below 45% marks) (c) Computer Science English, Urdu, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Islamic Education (Part-I) and Pak. Studies (Part-II) Eligibility: S.S.C. with Science (Minimum D grade/Not below 45% marks) (d) General Science Group (Arts) Eligibility: S.S.C (Minimum D grade/Not below 45% marks) English, Urdu, Islamic Education (Part-I) and Pak. Studies (Part-II) which are compulsory subjects, Students can select the following set: Morning Shift Economics, Maths, Statistic Humanities Eligibility: S.S.C (Minimum D grade) (i) (Morning Shift) Besides English, Urdu, Islamic Education (Part-I) and Pak. Studies (Part-II) which are compulsory subjects, students can select one of the following sets: Civics, Islamic History, Islamic Studies Civics, Islamic History, HPE. (2) DEGREE LEVEL Islamic Education is compulsory for Part-I and Pakistan Studies for Part-II in all disciplines. (a) Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Eligibility:F.Sc (Pre-Engineering,Minimum 45% Marks) Maths-A, Statistics, Computer Sc (b) Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Eligibility: Intermediate Science/ Arts (Minimum 45% Marks) Besides compulsory subjects of English, Islamic Education (Part-I) and Pak. Studies (Part-II), students can opt for one of the following sets. (1) Islamic Studies, Law. (2) Political Science, Law (3) Islamic Studies, Political Science (4) Islamic Studies, HPE. AFFILIATION / SCHEME OF STUDIES This College is affiliated with BISE Kohat at Inter level and Khushal Khan Khattak University  Karak at the graduate (BA/B.Sc) level. DUES/ FEE STRUCTURE The following dues are charged at the intermediate, two years degree, four years degree and postgraduate levels. All dues must be paid in advance by the students seeking admission to the Part-I of their respective courses. ii. 2nd year and 4th year students have to deposit all the dues before the commencement of their classes. iii. Roll Numbers of Board/University examinations are issued only when a student clears his dues and has the required number of attendance at his credit. iv. BISE Registration Fee and Sports Fee is payable by 1st Year Students only. v. University Registration Fee, Social Work Fee and Sports Fee, if any, is payable only by 3rd Year Students only. vi. Students studying Computer Science at any level shall also pay the computer stationary charges in every year of their studies. vii. Security should be claimed within one month of the termination of the public examination, otherwise, it will be forfeited in favor of the government. Fee Concession and Scholarships i. Deserving students within the ambit of 10% of the total strength are given fee concession. ii. Deserving and meritorious students are also granted financial assistance/prizes from Pupils’ Fund. iii. Besides these, scholarships like MORA, Fauji Foundation, and FATA etc are also floated from different agencies. iv. Only one financial assistance is to be availed at one time. v. Any of the above privileges are withheld in case a student is short of the required attendances, remain willfully absent from the class-tests or internal examinations or shows poor result. ADMISSIONS Admission to Intermediate (Part-I) will be completed according to the schedule set by the Board of Intermediate Secondary Education Kohat or Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak as the case may be. E-Prospectus along with the admission form can be obtained from the online admission website admission.hed.gkp.pk just after the issuance of the admission schedule of the Board/University. The candidates are required to submit their admission forms, complete in all respects, according to the schedule issued by the college administration. GENERAL ADMISSION RULES (i). Admissions are made strictly on the basis of merit. (ii). The application form duly filled by the candidate must be supported by the attested photocopies of the following documents: a) SSC certificate for admission to any level of studies. b) Detail Marks certificate and Provisional Certificate of the last examination passed. c) Character Certificate issued by the educational institute last attended. Where the candidate has passed the last examination in private capacity, such certificate shall be signed by a gazetted officer. d) Domicile Certificate. e) Self/ Father’s CNIC/Form B. f) Fresh Passport Size Colour photographs (Five). (iii). In all cases the decision of the college administration, in light of the rules laid down by HED, shall be final. (iv). A candidate, who is applying for admission one or more years late after passing SSC/HSSC Examination, will have to produce an affidavit to the effect that he/she has not been admitted previously to any college/university and he/she is availing the opportunity of admission for the first time. (v). Students passing SSC/HSSC Examination in Supplementary are not eligible for admission in the academic year in which they have passed the examination. (vi). Students having been placed in grade E in SSC Examination are not allowed for admission in 1st year in any faculty/group. Candidates who obtain less than 45% marks in the last examination passed are not eligible for admission. (vii). No regular admission in any class is allowed to a candidate who has already passed the equivalent examination in another faculty/group or subject. (viii). Candidates, who fail to confirm their seat by depositing the required fee within the specified period shown on any merit list issued by the concerned admission committee, shall lose their right of admission and their seats will be allotted to the next candidate in order of merit. (ix). Twenty extra marks are awarded to Hafiz-e-Quran. Such candidates shall not only support their claim by the relevant certificate but they shall also have to pass the recitation test conducted by the relevant admission committee. NOTE: An affidavit in light of the Supreme Court of Pakistan decision must be submitted by all the candidates at the time of admission (Specimen attached). UPPER AGE LIMIT (i). The upper age limit for admission shall be as under and shall be counted with respect to the closing date for receipt of applications for admission to the concerned level or faculty: a) 1st year 19 years b) 3 rd year 21 years AGE RELAXATION (i). Overage candidates (except under sports quota) can apply for relaxation in the upper age limit for up to three years by giving cogent reasons for availing such relaxation. Application for age relaxation must be submitted before the closing date of submission of the application forms. The principal of the college is authorized to grant one-year relaxation in the upper age limits at all levels as defined above. (ii). The Director of Higher Education is authorized to grant age relaxation for up to three years. The principal may submit such genuine hardship cases, by giving cogent reasons, to the Director Higher Education after providing provisional admission to such candidates, if otherwise eligible. (iii). The provisional admission shall stand cancelled if the relaxation in the upper age limit under sections (i) and (ii) above under heading Age Relaxation is not granted by the competent authority within thirty days of making such a request.
