Government Postgraduate College Nowshera is situated at a very ideal location in Nowshera cantonment. The famous river Kabul flows silently to the north while the busy Nowshera Islamabad national highway runs to the south. A network of roads connects the college to the adjacent areas. The college was established in 1956 as an inter-college and upgraded to degree level in 1963. Considering the important role of the college and the huge population of district Nowshera, the college was awarded the status of the postgraduate institute in Feb.2004. Subsequently, postgraduate classes were started in the following four disciplines: Computer Science, Economics, Political Science and Statistics. In 2011 the college was honoured to launch the BS-4-year Programme in Physics. In 2012 BS 4-Year Programme was extended to other disciplines such as Computer Science, Chemistry, Economics, and Mathematics. The college intends to start BS Programme in the subjects of Urdu, English, Political Science, statistics; and Islamic Studies from this academic year subject to the approval of the competent authority. The college building is spread over an area of 35 Kanals with well-ventilated classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and a library with an attached reading room, spacious hall, playground and green lawns which add to the beauty and grace of the building. Highly qualified, competent, experienced and dedicated teachers contribute honestly to the achievement of the aims and objectives. The foremost objectives are to exploit and refine the moral, mental and intellectual capabilities of a student in order to develop a balanced personality and an ideal character. Moreover, efforts are made to inculcate Islam as a momentous force in students's lives. Since Islam raises human beings to the height of humanity; hence education is imparted in such a way that the students should turn out to be true and exemplary Muslims ideologically as well as practically. We firmly believe in the bright and brilliant future of our beloved country, Pakistan. Special attention is paid to enhancing national integrity and solidarity among the students.
