<p><p>Mansehra city is located in District Mansehra, KPK Province of Pakistan. The name of town is derived from the name of its founder Sardar Maha Singh Mirpuri, who was an administrator and general in Sikh Khalsa Army during the rule of the Khalsa empire of Maha Raj Ranjeet Singh. It is considered as an important tourist location due to Kaghan Valley area being located in the District and the Karakaram Highway passing through it. A number of girls highs schools were present in the district and by the grace of Almighty Allah G.G.D.C was established in 1975 (initially as an intermediate college) in a borrowed building of local school. In 1976 it was shifted to the old building of civil hospital. In 1981 science department was established at inter level. In 1983 the college was upgraded to the degree level for arts classes. In 1990 the college stadium was established for sports. In 1999 Science subjects were offered at degree level. In 2001 Botany Lab and IT Department were established and computer subject was offered at inter level. The college facilities, departments flourish and multiplied day by day. It is honour of this college that computer classes were also started initially in KPK. The devastating earthquake of 8Oct, 2005 cause great damage to college building. Hostel building was completely destroyed and the residing students were shifted to Abbottabad and Haripur colleges. At that crucial period of destruction and challenging times, classes were regularly held in make shift class rooms under shelters and tents provided by KPK Government doner agencies. Despite many difficulties curricular and co-curricular activities were conducted by the college successfully.</p></p>
