Character Buiding Society

CHARACTER BUILDING SOCIETY

In an earnest effort to root out corruption from the society Character Building Society is established in the college. The aim of the society is to inculcate sense of responsibility among the future leadership in resisting the ills prevailing in the society. The endeavour is to create a society free from corruption, mal-practices, injustices and exploitation.

Main Objectives of the CBS

  • Inculcate a strict sense of self-discipline through personal examples taking inspirations from religious values / obligations;
  • To discharge their obligations towards the community’s need and expectations;
  • To harness their social, ethical and academic values in consonance with educational and cultural curriculum;
  • To act as whistle blower against malpractices, corruption and related issues to concern quarters without any exploitation motive or design;
  • To plan and practice activities aiming at character building.

Code of Conduct

  • Respect to elders and teachers and kindness to youngers
  • Truthfulness
  • Punctuality in all daily routine commitments
  • Offering prayers and say greetings to every one
  • Curbing the trend of cheating in examination and creation of hatred against the cheating material like Note Books, Pocket Guides etc

  • Essay writing competition on character building themes
  • Declamation contests
  • Poster painting competitions
  • Organise visits of national heroes with high integrity levels
  • Establishment of Honest Cafe / Tuck Shop with trust based functioning
  • One liner message on electronic board
  • Publicity of code of conduct through pamphlets
  • Participation of the society members in anticorruption activities organised from other quarters
  • Intermingling and interacting among college community while promoting sense of kindness and respect to each other with the main objective of community caring through the following activities:
    • Class meetings to establish group goals, evolve rules of conduct, chalk out activities and resolve problems
    • Academic achievements through team work by promoting collective planning and their execution
    • Buddies programs to include students from all levels to work together on academic and social issues
    • To resolve mutual conflicts through conflict resolution skill in a respectable and peaceful manner
  • Involve Students’ Community in character building through:
    • Honest and candid discussion to develop critical thinking
    • Discussions to provide bonding experience between the students and other participants
    • Encourage students to discuss critical situations through frank and candid discussion technique. Posing teasing questions like finding a lost wallet or helping a friend in examination, discussing problems involving the student’s ethical sense, contrasting his desire. This can generate interesting debates.
